A piece of old-world Italy has been borrowed for the likes of Historic Downtown Opelika — in the shape of a wine + cocktail lounge. Piedmont on Piedmont, which opened just last year, combines its appreciation for Piemonte, Italy, with southern charm through family-style dinner dishes and rare wines. Tucked away on the second floor of Piedmont on Piedmont is The Torino Club, a cozy cocktail lounge + wine bar. The club, originally reserved for private events, opened to the public in August.

Rane Culinary mixes community and cheer in holiday baking class

On Saturday, Dec. 2, the Horst Schulze School of Hospitality Management hosted a holiday baking class for kids ages 7 to 12 at the Tony and Libba Rane Culinary Science Center. From 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., kids worked from a menu of three cookies to make holiday-inspired edible creations.
